Thank you, this was really helpful! I can’t get image embedding to work, though. When I try, I get errors that start with:

2010-02-07 07:28:29.978 java[37350:10b] Apple AWT Startup Exception : *** -[NSCFArray insertObject:atIndex:]: attempt to insert nil

…and then mxmlc appears to lock up; I have to use control-C to abort it. This is on the Mac, obviously, but all the other demos work fine; only an [Embed] line causes this. I’ve tried various permutations of the path, including putting the image next to the .as file and using just the file name, but the result is the same. Any ideas?

@ryan: put the compiler in C:\Flex\Bin, then add this path to your PATH environment variable as described here: http://www.cs.usask.ca/~wew036/latex/env.html
